JOTA 2000

Chifley ARC again participated in the 2000 JOTA, seeing scouts from the First Whalan scout group attending from Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon.  Many contacts were made on 2m and on HF, while an ATV link was also in use via the Lawson ch35 ATV repeater.

Packet and Internet were also popular again this year, with several QSO's via the Packet Converse network.

Thanks to Glen, VK2YOY for these shots.

JOTA 1998

The 1998 Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) and Jamboree On The Internet (JOTI) saw scouts from several groups in western Sydney attend the Chifley ARC Clubrooms to use our equipment. The scouts and amateurs had a great time starting on Friday evening with the setup of equipment through to Sunday afternoon.

VK2SFW was the scouting callsign used on 2m FM voice, HF voice, HF SSTV and Packet operations.

8 computers were set up on a LAN around the clubrooms, 3 for packet, 4 for internet and one Linux server that did all the work talking to the internet via a 56k link. Packet operations were conducted via 9600bps link to the VK2CPG gateway.

The weekend also saw a 3 way ATV link between VK2SFW at the Chifley ARC, VK2SMB at the Moorebank Army Barracks, and the Sydney Tower (Centerpoint). VK2SFW was transmitting on 1250MHz and VK2SMB on 1280MHz to Sydney Tower, where the signals were mixed and retransmitted on 444MHz. Thanks to the AATC for this link.

Thanks also to the members who brought their equipment along for the weekend, making it a success.
