Back in 1984, a small group of radio enthusiasts, many of whom were active on the Citizen Bands (CB), decided that they would like to meet personally on a regular basis and share ideas and knowledge on all aspects of Radio Communications.
The following people formed the Chifley Amateur Radio Club on 2 January 1985.
- Trevor Cook - VK2EC
- Vince Cottouli - VK2DVC
- Ralph Simmons - VK2GRS
- Ray Sparks - VK2FKO
- Col Stevenson - VK2CS -(Silent Key)
- John Robinson - VK2YC -(Silent Key)
Ray Sparks was appointed as the first President of the club. Over the years, he was followed by Ray Wadey VK2ELO, Terry Noonan VK2KTN, Ralph Simmons VK2GRS, Harry Tyerman VK2BHT, and round again to Ray Sparks VK2FKO.
